Welcome to The Soft Anonymous!
Well, I’ve decided to take the plunge at last and set up a new blog. Granted, it’s currently so bare that even the tumbleweed has gone off in search of another place to roll around, but before too long, I hope this place will be a hive of blogorific activity.
This blog is going to be based around the two subjects that get me excited: art and science. By art, I mean films, theatre, books, music, etc., not just the stuff that’s traditionally stuck to museum walls (though there will be some of that too). Similarly, ‘science’ covers anything from biology to geology, white dwarfs to the periodic table, and maybe even some philosophy if I’m feeling brave. Although I’ve spent the last seven odd years studying physics-related subjects, I’ll try not to be biased!
Anyway, rather than create a sprawling blog covering the millions of possible art- and science-related topics, I’m going to be writing about anything that links these two beasts…anything that could be termed ‘sciencey art’, or ‘arty science’ I guess. I’m not quite sure what that means yet, but time will tell. Here’s a few questions off the top of my head…
- How has science inspired art (and vice versa)?
- What music, books, films, plays, etc. have a connection to science?
- How is art used to communicate and develop science?
Things will become less murky with the first posts, so…let the blogging commence!
